The Redwood Forest

Dad woke up early and we pulled out. Eager to reach the redwoods, we were into California before noon:

We made it to the redwoods not very long after, parked and had our breakfast in our camper in the redwoods.
Then we unhooked and drove down a road to view the trees a little bit more closely. I climbed up one and we continued on. We reached the turn around shortly after. It was next to a beautiful river.
We noticed a woman with her Honda stuck near the river, trying to remove some of the rocks in order to drive herself out, but the car was really stuck.

Surprisingly, Dad didn't have a strap with him. So, Jane and I went down to the stream for a bit while Dad and Claire went to get a rope. They came back a little while later with a chain that they borrowed from a man from Montana.
However, the chain didn't fit around the hook up so they tried a rope that they borrowed from another guy who happened to be there, but the rope snapped.
Then Dad hooked the chain up a different way and he pulled them out. Finally, they were on their way and so were we. We returned the chain on our way out.
Next we went to the beach. Jane and I waded in until the water was up to our waist.

We went back into the camper and changed and then got back on the road.
We stopped at the next set of redwoods and got out and walked a trail. The trail went through the woods and I saw some huge trees.

I also found a four leaf clover.

We came to the big tree and I got a picture of it. Below I have also posted a picture of the sign that explains how big it was.

We were off shortly after that and we hit the beach. This time we took the dogs to the beach and all three of them were terrified of the water. Claire and I switched off running Herbie across the beach.
The rest of the day was filled with driving. We stopped at Carl Jr.'s for dinner. We played beat the parents for a while and kept up our pace.
I played songs over the radio before we arrived at the campground. When did arrive, we set up and went to bed.

Until Next Time,
    Katherine Rose
