Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. Pokemon Go...your thoughts? Are you playing? Do you even know what it is?

The answer to all three of these questions is no.

2. What was something you collected as a child? Do you still have that collection? If you're a parent what's something your own children collected? Have you ever camped out, stood in a crazy long queue, or paid a ridiculous sum for a 'collectible'?

I have never been big on collectables. Mainly because I have a tendency to not hold an interest in things for very long, but I do have a collection of Barbie dolls.
This is basically only because I really like them and when I was little, every time one of Claire's Barbie dolls got destroyed she would give it to me.
Thus, a light bulb went on in my brain. If I destroyed Claire's Barbie dolls I would obtain them. None of my Barbie dolls are actually in mint condition. They just exist.
To all those other things? No thank you. I don't like lines and I prefer good prices against brand names.

3. "Collect moments, not things"...tell us about a moment you've added to your collection this summer

One moment.  How about Glacier National Park and the clear blue water we played in? Read more about it here.

4.  What's something collecting dust in your home right now? Any plans to do something about it?

A dust collector in my home is a bin of clay. I have been saving that stuff for a rainy day and I still haven't gotten around to using it because I can't quite think of what to make.
I guess one of these days I'll pull it out and fool around with it. That is if it's still any good. :)

5. A favorite song relating to time?

Time In A Bottle By Jim Croce.

6. What's been your most frightening or your most interesting encounter with wildlife?

One of my earlier encounters with wildlife was when a crow flew into our kitchen through the old stove pipe. Jane recalls sitting in her high chair during this event.
It was very startling and we keep a picture in front of the pipe now.

7.  On July 20, 1969 Apollo 11 Commander Neil Armstrong set his foot down on the moon. If you could travel to the moon would you go? Why or why not?

I really have no interest in rocketing myself to the moon. It would take a lot of training, a lot of equipment, and a lot of time just to be able to say I did it.
Neil Armstrong was brave. He went out and did something no one had ever done before and showed Americans everywhere that they could do great things.
The moon has already been walked upon. I think I would like to find something else that I can do to impact this world and prove to the world what I'm made of.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

Who came up with the piggy bank? Did someone randomly ask themselves, "Where is the best place to store money?" And then instead of thinking of something normal or even just investing it in a bank he decided to hide it inside of a fake pig?
Maybe at first it was designed to be kid friendly. Still the whole idea of injecting coins into the back of a pig is a little strange if you ask me.

Until Next Time,

  1. I agree with the pig thing. What in the world was that person thinking? Who looks at pig and thinks, "I want to stick my spare change into the back of that creature." Even if they wanted to make it kid friendly, why a pig? Wouldn't they make a cat or dog? Or even a horse?
Also, can you imagine how creepy the first person to drink milk was? Who seriously thinks, "Hey, everybody, look at that! I'm going to squeeze those dangly things underneath it and then drink whatever comes out!" The whole thing just seems suspicious to me.

I believe this is the longest comment I've ever written. :)

    My love,
    Kat

    1. Nice thought. I am glad my post could get you thinking. The cow thing is a little strange, but there are a lot of things in today's culture that are strange and we just take it as normal.
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment!

  2. That crow experience had to be startling! We've had plenty of animals get into our house, but a crow!?! Yikes!

Your thought process as a kid cracked me up, intentionally doing damage to your sister's Barbies so you could have more. Hilarious.

I like your answer about the moon.

Perhaps a pig because no one would ever think that someone would hide money in a pig? A good hiding place?

    1. I'm so glad you stopped by! Someone creative must have thought up a piggy bank and you're reasoning for it makes a lot of sense.
Thanks for leaving a comment here on my blog!
