I woke up and went with my Dad to the orthodontists. Since we were just passing through Cody, Wyoming we didn't have an appointment, but Dr. Bennion took us and removed my appliance. He was very nice. Click Here to view their site.
We set out not too long after that for Yellowstone National Park. It took about two hours, but we finally arrived at the welcome sign:
We entered the park in the afternoon and almost right away decided to stop to eat lunch, but there was a Grizzly bear right near our parking location so we pressed on. We began traveling further into Yellowstone.
We stopped a little bit farther down and ate sandwiches for lunch.
As we drove, we noticed a buffalo in the field, but I could not capture a picture of it.
We pulled off at Yellowstone Lake and waded into the water. It was extremely windy which made the lake extremely wavy. It was freezing, but beautiful:
As we were leaving we saw a buffalo. We kept up on our pace peering though the window hoping to catch a glimpse of the wild life. It was an absolutely gorgeous day which helped and was much appreciated.
We visited mud volcano and I got some beautiful pictures here is one of them:
I also got a close up shot of a buffalo:
As we drove along I saw plenty more buffalo and I would say that from what I can see there is no longer a shortage of buffalo at Yellow Stone.
There was a very clogged road that we came to. Everybody was trying to get a view of the elk near the lake.
I did get a picture though and here it is:
We also got to see a waterfall! It was beautiful. Here is a photo of that:
We went on our way and arrived at a campsite. The sign outside read full! We pulled in anyway, because the camps are a little spaced out it seems and we didn't want to have to lug the trailer to the next one. Luckily, they did have room and so we pulled in and hooked up.
After we were settled we had a snack and headed out again to continue exploring Yellowstone.
We went on Uncle Tom's trail. The walk down was extremely terrifying. I sang softly to myself -a song I don't even really know the words to- in order to take my mind off of the walk.
The first time we started down we stopped and turned around and we considered giving up, but we persevered. I did not stop on the second time down.
I kept a calming rhythm all the whole way, but my father took a picture that I would like to share with you:
When we arrived however it was all worth it. We got a spectacular close up view of a giant waterfall! Here is the image I took, but it just barely captures an ounce of what we experienced:
Afterwards, we went to Artists Point. The waterfall and the cliffs were all around us. I took several upon several images, but again it cannot capture the whole essence of the photo:
Once our scenic appetites were settled we climbed back into the car and started towards the campground. Along the way, we spotted some deer and right up next to us on the side of the road we saw a buffalo. He didn't really pay us any mind as we drove past.
When we got back we set up the camper and had dinner out by the fire pit. We ate hamburgers and I ate a hotdog, this time simply because I wanted too. We enjoyed s'mores and popcorn around the fire.
The Yellow Stone National Park is all new to me though and I looked forward to seeing all the beautifully preserved habitats and rolling hills.
Until Next Time,
Katherine Rose
