Deeper Into Yellowstone

We started off from the campgrounds after enjoying a nice breakfast of egg sandwiches. Our first stop was West Thumb Geyser Basin. We saw some extremely deep holes of hot water as we walked along the path. I took some pictures, but these were the best:

After, we stopped at a pull off, walked the dogs and gazed down at a deep canyon and waterfall. Then we continued on our trek towards Old Faithful.
We arrived a Old Faithful just as the geyser fired. We only saw a glimpse of it from the parking lot and we weren't leaving until we saw it up close.
We knew we were in for a long wait. We drove around until we finally, finally located a parking spot. We walked into one of the visitor centers while we were waiting.
We continued our hour wait by exploring a path leading past other geysers. I took some pictures as we strolled around. We saw so many different ones. Here is one of the ones I took (I thought this one was cool):

Finally, we sat down and began waiting patiently for Old Faithful to erupt. It sat steaming in front of us. We continued anticipating its eruption, but it sat in refusal as we waited on the edge of our seats. I joked with Jane that this would be the time Old Faithful would decide to be unfaithful.
It finally did erupt however, and when it did, it spewed water and clouds from the earth. It was a wonderful experience. Nature truly is beautiful.

We went back to the camper and had lunch. Then we were back on the road.
One of our last stops of the day was Mammoth Hot Springs. Claire and I read an informational pamphlet. One of the sites was currently dormant, but still rather beautiful:

We went into an information center and took a look around. They had a video on the dangers of Buffalo that Jane seemed especially impressed with, so she showed it to my Dad.
We left shortly after they announced twenty minutes until closing. We dropped off our recycling and shortly after said good-bye to Yellowstone National Park. As we were leaving we watched an elk and her baby walk back into Yellowstone. It was a proper good-bye.
Montana greeted us not too long after our departure. There were lots of hills in that part of Montana. Cows lined a few of the grassy fields. Sprinkles watered some of the grass struggling to keep it alive and green.
We pressed forward, and after a while, we stopped and had dinner at Outback. It was very nice and they even made me a BLT. You may have noticed, but I like BLTs.
Afterward, we continued for a long while and drove well into the night. Finally we came to a Walmart and crashed.
I would say we had a pretty full day.

Until Next Time,
    Katherine Rose
