I know I have mentioned automatic doors before, but I wanted to expand on my thought. It has really gotten me to thinking about some things. Why did they invent them? Are they better then regular old-fashioned doors? Well, here is a list of pros and cons for the automatic door.
Pro: If you are carrying a ton of groceries because you are at the store and you don't have a free hand to turn a doorknob, you can simply walk through the automatic door without giving it a second thought.
Con: Imagine how much electricity is wasted everyday, just because someone cannot open their own door.
Pro: Think about all the spreadable illnesses prevented just because people aren't passing around germs on doorknobs.
Con: You usually have to walk through an assigned door and as, http://justmeandrandomstuff.blogspot.com/ pointed out, that doesn't give you a whole lot of freedom. Unless you are walking up to the wrong door just as someone else is walking out, then sometimes you get away with going through the opposite door. :)
Pro: It provides enjoyment with friends, when you pretend you are opening the door for them. This is really fun. It's also fun to march through these doors and thrust your hands out as you do it. It makes you feel very much in charge of the situation; more so than just opening a door the normal way.
Con: Sometimes it can get annoying when you are just trying to patiently wait until it is time to leave and every time you shift your weight the door opens.
Pro: There is never really that awkward moment when you are with another person and both of you are waiting for the other one to open the door.
Con: If you drop a big ball and it rolls over to the door and then the door automatically swings open and it rolls out and then it just keeps going and it rolls into the street and since you wouldn't be expecting that to happen you would just stand there staring and your ball would get run over and destroyed by a huge truck.
Automatics are innovative and new, but then, the old fashioned door has been working fine for decades. Why mess with a perfectly fine system and risk screwing something up?
Automatic doors or the old fashioned ones? The arguments are there.
If you have anymore pros or cons for automatic doors, I would love to hear from you :)
Until Next Time,
Meredith
